Private clients

Our clients come to us from a wide range of backgrounds, including professional, entrepreneurial, and landed wealth, and at every stage of the journey from those starting to grow their assets through to those who are drawing income or thinking of passing on wealth to the next generation.

Whatever their circumstances, clients come to Thomson Tyndall for the reassurance that derives from having a well-thought out financial plan expertly managed on their behalf.

We provide comprehensive financial planning encompassing retirement and pensions advice, investment management, and trust and estate planning.

Whether you want to plan for a comfortable and secure retirement or save towards a specific objective or event, we can help you.

An integrated approach

Historically there has been a division between financial advice and investment management with many clients employing both an IFA and stockbroker. It is rare to find a firm with advisers specialising in both disciplines, but offering this joined up approach – interleaving tax and investment planning – undoubtedly makes our clients’ lives easier and saves them money.

Jamie Fergusson, Managing Director

Some firms offer financial advice, others offer investment management. We believe that financial planning and investment management, while different disciplines, go hand-in-hand and work best when delivered by a team with expertise in both. At Thomson Tyndall we provide clients with a fully integrated approach that considers all areas of their financial position.

Understanding your needsWhen seeking financial advice some clients are concerned about committing to a service without understanding what that service entails, what is feasible and the benefits and risks.

We offer all those interested in becoming clients a first meeting for which we make no charge. Through an open and interactive discussion, your adviser will establish your financial objectives and concerns, your existing financial assets, your risk appetite and your needs. Based on these discussions your adviser will formulate the outline of a plan. Importantly, before you commit to working with us, we set out our terms of business and provide transparent detail of our services, fees and charges.

We think it is important that all of our clients have a thorough understanding of what we can do for them and the corresponding costs so there are no hidden charges or surprises further down the line.

Whole-market researchSome financial advisers offer their own products or may be tied to specific providers and lack independence. This limits their ability to research the whole market for the best options for their clients.

Because Thomson Tyndall is completely independent, if you decide to work with us, we will research the whole market without bias to any provider or product. We have no incentive to choose one product over another except where it is in your best interests.

Our research covers a wide range of financial products and tax wrappers, including pensions, ISAs, and investment bonds and within those, a broad spectrum of investments such as cash and bonds, equities and property to tax-efficient, higher-risk investments such as Enterprise Investment Schemes (EISs) and Venture Capital Trusts (VCTs). Working with your other professional advisersIt is important that all financial advice is considered within a wider context of the legal and regulatory framework, markets, and tax.

We believe that to provide you with the most intelligent and thoughtful advice, it is often practical to work with other experts. At Thomson Tyndall, we not only draw on our own knowledge and experience, but also that of trusted legal and professional partners. We are also pleased to coordinate plans with your existing legal advisers, brokers and accountants, so that you benefit from the best advice each discipline has to offer.

Bespoke and personal serviceThomson Tyndall prides itself on providing each client with a dedicated team led by an experienced adviser, who will get to know you and your family circumstances and be your partner in realising your financial goals. This means we will always provide advice that is tailored to your specific needs.
