Charity investment management

Charities and not for profit organisations make an essential contribution to public life and investments are often central to their success. This, alongside a trustee’s personal responsibility, is why many charities want an investment approach that is as reliable as it is individual; one that can provide a portfolio tailored to their charity’s specific requirements whilst obtaining longer term, sustainable growth on their money.

At Thomson Tyndall, we have a growing number of relationships with Charities, each carefully managed with a personal attention which focuses on the specific needs of the trustees and their beneficiaries. Our investment managers, in many cases, have spent multiple decades as trustees themselves, and so understand the growing demands placed upon charities by the Charities Commission. A central part of the high standards expected of trustees is the effective supervision and governance of their charity’s investment portfolio management and risk. We spend time working with our charity clients from the very start to understand each of their needs and their current financial position. We then implement our investment expertise to help these charities achieve their investment objectives.

Through our high service standards and drawing on our understanding of the demands placed on charities we have created long term relationships within sectors such as Welfare, Religious, Children/Families, Health, as well as Livery Companies and grant-making charities.

Given how busy trustees often are, our discretionary service appeals widely, enabling the trustees to focus on the day to day running of their charity, rather than worry about the management of their portfolio.

Charities and their trustees often place the level of service they receive above all else. Our long-term experience in managing charity investments, coupled with our investment expertise, puts us in the very best position to assist your charity with your investment portfolio.

Additional servicesIn addition to investment management, we can also assist your charity with financial planning services. These include helping to plan for specific short, medium and longer term goals to ensure resources are sufficient and the investments are suitable to meet these goals.

If your charity has existing investments and relationships that you wish to retain, we can work with third party fund managers to help you articulate and convey your charity’s individual requirements and monitor the suitability of their approach, on either a one-off or ongoing basis.
