Workplace seminars – Planning for life
Thomson Tyndall works with some of the UK’s largest employers to provide counselling, training and support services to their employees through the Planning for Life workshop programme.
The programme is designed to provide support to individuals at all stages of their careers and is particularly suited to those who are approaching key life stages, which of course can be potential financial stress points.
We offer courses for all the following categories of employee:
- New hire
- Early career
- Mid-career
- Senior executives
- Pre-retirement
- Post-retirement
- Redundancy
Firms that facilitate employee access to financial education have reported a number of significant business benefits, including:
- Improved staff retention
- Reduced absenteeism and sickness rates leading to improved productivity – as financial difficulties are a primary cause of stress, illness, relationship breakdown etc.
- Increased participation in company pension schemes, share schemes and other occupational benefits
- Smoother introduction and acceptance of pension scheme changes, benefits and legislative changes
- Reduced pressure on HR and pension resources
- More consistent information provided to employees, reducing potentially costly misunderstandings (in financial and/or goodwill terms)
- Greater employee satisfaction.
Active participation is the key feature of all our Planning for Life workshops. A flexible approach is taken within an established agenda, ensuring that the detailed content of each session is covered, whilst allowing for the priorities and concerns of the group. A detailed course manual and supporting reference material are provided digitally to each attendee, together with the contact details of the various speakers, so that they can direct any future queries to an appropriate adviser at a time of their choosing.
We adapt the core Planning for Life modules and materials for each individual client to meet their specific requirements. Clients may choose to offer the whole programme to their employees or select clinics and seminars on an ad hoc basis.

Employers who engage with our Planning for Life programme also benefit from the Thomson Tyndall IFA Referral Service. This provides employees with access to qualified, experienced, Independent Financial Advisers who provide a free initial consultation without obligation. During this consultation the IFA may be able to answer general questions and provide guidance on various financial planning matters. If more complex financial planning is required, individuals may choose to contract directly with the IFA for more detailed advice and recommendations on a fee-paying basis. The likely costs will be discussed in advance with any individual thinking of using our services.

““We met Mike as a representative of TT at our corporate retirement course; the material he shared was easy to absorb and delivered in a pleasant & friendly manner. One of the most memorable & important points he made was that this is the time that we have all worked and saved for, so it is important that we include plans for the pleasurable parts of our lives now.””
